More Than A Celebration, A Movement

For more than a decade, PDX Hip-Hop Week has been more than a celebration—it has been a movement built around culture, community, opportunity, and connection. Through the support of sponsors, donors, businesses, artists, and community partners, we have created platforms for artists and creatives, inspired entrepreneurship and collaboration, strengthened relationships between the Hip-Hop and business communities, and built stronger connections between the culture and city entities. Through the STAR Awards alone, more than 375 individuals have been honored for not only their contributions to Hip-Hop, but for intentionally using their gifts and influence to impact their communities. But there is still much more work to do. Our mission extends beyond one week—we are committed to year-round activations that bring people together, strengthen communication, expand opportunity, encourage accountability, and empower our community to control its own narrative rather than allowing Hip-Hop to be defined solely by what the commercial industry chooses to finance and promote.
